New Schools, New Names, New (and old) Locations

The Academy at Opry Mills
is opening at
433 Opry Mills Drive, Suite 437, 37214

The wildly successful Academy schools are opening a third location, but it's also a homecoming. The Academy at Opry Mills was forced to move to Hickory Hollow when flood waters destroyed much of the Opry Mills Mall in 2010. Now the school is coming back and better than ever. While the Opry Mills campus will not be ready for the first day of school, it will be completed soon after. Boy's Preparatory
is opening at
282 Plus Park Boulevard, 37217

Boy's Prep is a new charter school for 2012-13, serving seventh grade students. Learn more on the Boy's Prep website.

Brick Church College Preparatory
is opening at
2835 Brick Church Pike, 37207

Brick Church College Prep is a charter school serving fifth grade students at Brick Church Middle School. Learn more on the Brick Church College Prep website.

Cane Ridge Elementary School
is opening at
3884 Asheford Trace, 37013

Cane Ridge Elementary School will serve the fast-growing communities in South Nashville. It is located near the Asheford Crossing and Summerfield Village subdivisions. Principal Donna Wilburn is excited to start the first year at CRES and meet her new students!

Chadwell Elementary School
is moving to
321 Port Drive, 37115

After renovation and remodeling, Chadwell Elementary School is going back home to Port Drive in Madison. We are excited about the changes made at Chadwell! The school is poised to serve its families better than ever before!

Cohn Adult, Cohn Alternative Learning Center, & Transition
are now named
W.A. Bass Adult, W.A. Bass Alternative Learning Center, and W.A. Bass Transition
and are moving to
W.A. Bass Learning Center at 5200 Delaware Avenue, 37209

These three unique schools are changing names and moving down the street. All three programs were formerly housed on the Cohn campus, but are moving to the building formerly called W.A. Bass Middle School, now called W.A. Bass Learning Center. All three schools will be led by principal Henry Johnson. Learn more about each school using these links: W.A. Bass Adult, W.A. The Cohn School
is opening at
4805 Park Avenue, 37209

Moving into the Cohn building is the Cohn School, a new school to serve students in grades 8-10 who are over age and under credited for their grades. At the Cohn School, 8th grade students will earn high school credits while they complete middle school. Ninth and 10th grade students can complete new classes while making up missed credit so they can get back on track for high school graduation. Learn more about the Cohn School on its website.

East Literature Magnet School
is now called
East Nashville Magnet School

Reinforcing its place as a neighborhood institution, East Nashville Magnet School will continue serving its community under a new name. The new name also reflects the changes in the school's curriculum, moving away from the literature focus and into the Paideia model.

Gateway Elementary School
is moving to
1524 Monticello Avenue, 37072

Gateway is leaving its temporary home at Ewing Park and moving back home to Rivergate. The Gateway building has been renovated for 2012-13, and the faculty and families are ready for the new year!

KIPP Academy
is moving to
3410 Knight Road, 37207

KIPP Academy is moving to the historic Ewing Park campus, which will soon undergo a complete renovation and rebuild.

Knowledge Academies
is opening at
5380 Hickory Hollow Parkway, 37013

Knowledge Academies is a new charter school for 2012-13, serving fifth and sixth grade students. Learn more on the Knowledge Academies website.

Isaac Litton Middle School
is moving to
4601 Hedgewood Drive, 37216

The Isaac Litton building has undergone a complete transformation, with more room to grow and a brand new feel. Litton Middle School is leaving behind the Dalewood building and going home to the historic Litton campus. Read more about the Litton transformation.
