Dual Enrollment / Dual Credit Agreements

The Academies provide a seamless path from high school to postsecondary education where students can earn college credit while in high school. Any graduate who has received a “B” or better average in selected high school courses and meets other college requirements may receive post- secondary course credit from institutions such as these:
- Nashville State Community College
- Middle Tennessee State University
- Volunteer State Community College
- Tennessee Technology Centers
The advantages are clear:
- reduced college cost
- less time to complete the college program
- the option to take advanced technical courses in their college program where appropriate
The Academies of Nashville will provide students an opportunity to explore a variety of careers through guest speakers, classroom projects, field trips, job shadowing, and internships. Academy teachers will work with professionals to develop engaging and relevant lessons that teach students core curriculum through the lens of a particular career or theme of study, as well as critical 21st century skills and career specific skills. The Academies will give students practical, hands-on experience and a deep understanding of the academic material, particularly how it applies to each student’s focus of study.
