CONTRACT FOR SATURDAY SCHOOL

John Overton High School is offering an opportunity for you to choose Saturday School as an alternative to another punishment such as ISS or OSS. By signing this document you are agreeing to the following stipulations for Saturday School:

  1. This is your choice. You have not been forced or coerced into this.
  2. There is no transportation provided. You must arrange your ride to and from Saturday School.
  3. The times are 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. If you arrive late or leave early you do not get credit for attending.
  4. You must attend in school dress code.
  5. You must work the entire time. If you do not bring work you will be assigned work by our monitor.
  6. There is no sleeping, talking, socializing, or use of electronic devices. You are there to work quietly.
  7. Students must sign in at the cafeteria with a picture ID. School ID is acceptable.

Any student that is a “No Show” or fails to meet the conditions listed above will not get credit for having served their time in Saturday Morning School, and will receive an automatic Out of School Suspension for failure to serve punishment.

If you have chosen this as a punishment, but discover that you will not be able to serve prior to the Saturday, contact your Assistant Principal before the date of the punishment to have your original punishment re-instated.

On some occasions, we will allow students to change out of SSA to work on school beautification projects under the supervision of a staff member. This is always on a voluntary basis. Students choosing this will be expected to work.

This option is presented so that students can be held accountable for their failure to follow school and MNPS rules, but not have to miss classroom instruction during the week.
