John Overton High School staff, parents, and students will work together as partners to foster a positive learning environment and support student achievement. This compact describes school, student, and family responsibilities.
Our signatures indicate agreement to fulfill this compact to the best of our abilities.
As an Overton High School staff member, I pledge to:
*Provide high quality curriculum, instruction, and support for each student to meet the state’s student academic achievement standards.
*Provide a safe learning environment.
*Communicate with parents regularly concerning their child’s progress.
*Schedule an annual parent-teacher conference to discuss student academic and behavior progress and provide additional opportunities for parent-teacher meetings as needed.
As an Overton High School parent/guardian, I pledge to:
*Communicate with the school to encourage my child’s learning and positive behavior.
*Provide my child with a place for homework and makes sure he/she completes all assignments.
*Make sure my child attends school and is on time.
*Support my child by attending school events.
*Talk with my child about school activities and classes every day.
*Communicate with the school about any changes in address, phone numbers, or health related issues.
As an Overton High School student, I pledge to:
*Attend school regularly, on time, and prepared for all my classes.
*Do my best, pay attention in class, take notes, and turn assignments in on time.
*Set aside at least 30 minutes per day for homework.
*Behave in a safe and respectful manner and take responsibility for my own actions and belongings.
*Obey the district Code of Conduct and Dress Code.
*Be a good citizen by doing what is right and showing respect for others, the environment, and myself.
*Take pride in my school and participate in at least one school-sponsored club or sport.
*Talk to a teacher or another staff member if I need help with class work or getting along with others.
*Discuss school activities and classes with my parents so they can help me learn and be successful.
*Complete plans to continue my education after I graduate from Overton.
